This week we will begin our topic on Spring. The children will be learning all about the season and the changes that have occurred from Winter and Autumn. We will be looking for signs of spring in the environment and will be going on a walk around the school site looking for signs of spring. The children will continue to observe their bean stalk plants from last week to see if these have started to grow. When out and about with your child, encourage them to look for any signs of spring and talk about what you see.

The children are all working well in their phonic groups and are now using what they know to write simple sentences and captions. Continue to read with your child every night and don’t forget to log on to Oxford owl to do the quiz and read the book on there also. It is lovely seeing the children become more confident with both their reading and writing and we are seeing lots of writing in the children’s play. Below are some more blending videos for extra practise.

This week in Maths children will build on their earlier work matching numerals to quantities by now finding and making pairs. They will begin to understand that a pair is two. Children will be provided with collections of items that come in pairs and twill begin to notice that some quantities will have an odd one left over with no partner.. Encourage your child to notice pairs and odd and even numbers through games involving matching pairs, such as snap or memory games.

We are loving the sunny weather at the minute but please be reminded that your child needs to bring a waterproof coat with a hood every day. Our weather is very changeable and even though sunny it is still cold when the sun goes in. The children have access throughout the day to our outside area and spend their lunch break outside – even in the rain! It is better for your child to have a coat that stays on their peg if not needed rather than having no coat and not having one when they need it.
have a lovely week
